This blend combines coffees from Papua New Guinea and El Salvador. The varieties include Bourbon, Typica, and Catimor, grown at altitudes between 1400-1500 meters above sea level. The coffee is processed using the washed method. It features tasting notes of black strap molasses, pecan, and toffee brittle. The blend is roasted to a medium dark level.
Achilles Coffee Roasters was founded in 2015 by Chad Bell in San Diego, California, named after his son. What started as a modest outdoor coffee cart in the Gaslamp Quarter grew within a year into a leased space in Cortez Hill, and the business now operates five café locations across San Diego County. All coffee is roasted in small batches locally, using beans that carry Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications alongside direct trade relationships where possible. The roastery maintains 12 rotating single origin selections sourced from around the globe, with an emphasis on precision brewing methods including weighed espresso shots.
