This coffee is a single origin from Brazil, specifically from the Cocatrel Cooperative in Tres Pontas. The beans are sourced from the Cerrado Mineiro region in Minas Gerais at 900-1100 meters altitude. It is a natural processed coffee with mixed varieties, scoring 83+ on SCA evaluation. The coffee has tasting notes of orange, cherry, hazelnut caramel, and milk chocolate. It is roasted to a medium light level and works well in a cafetiere, any filter device, or as a single origin espresso.
Darren Tickner founded Bean Smitten in 2014 after leaving a 20 year career in financial services, setting up in a rural location on the Kent and East Sussex border near Flimwell. The roastery hand roasts in small batches with a focus on ethically traded, fully traceable beans. The Classic Blend earned three stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2021 and went on to become a finalist in the Gold Fork Awards.
