This is a coffee from Brazil, specifically the Arara varietal developed at the Procafé Foundation experimental farm in Varginha. The Arara varietal originates from crossing yellow Catuai and Obatã (Hybrid of Timor) varieties. It features flavor notes of apricot, peach, orange, and dark chocolate with a soft mouthfeel.
Ovenbird Coffee Roasters was incorporated in 2014 and operates from Glenwood Business Park in Glasgow, with roots in the Blackwood Estate near Lanark. Named after a migratory songbird that takes refuge in heavily shaded coffee farms, the roastery endorses traditional Italian coffee craft while working through a direct trade model. The team travels to origin to meet growers, many of whom are women led cooperatives, and agrees terms face to face. Their range includes a distinctive whisky barrel coffee series that infuses the character of fine Scotch into the beans. Single origins span Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Indonesia Sumatra, Rwanda, and limited edition lots like a Peruvian Gesha.
