This blend is composed of a rotating selection of coffees from Central and South America, specifically Mexico and Colombia. The producers are Luis Ordonez and Café La Victoria. The coffee is washed processed and features mixed varietals from the Bourbon and Typica groups, grown at elevations between 4500-7000 feet. The blend offers sweet, chocolate, and raspberry flavor notes with depth and body that works well with milk while maintaining complexity and sweetness when enjoyed alone.
Gotham Coffee Roasters was founded in Brooklyn in 2013 by Chris Calkins, a coffee professional whose career traces back to a mentorship with Alfred Peet, the Dutch American roaster widely regarded as the father of the specialty coffee movement. Calkins went on to cofound Spinelli Coffee in San Francisco, work with La Marzocco, and build an award winning wine label before returning to coffee with Gotham. The roastery sources through direct relationships with farmers, bringing Calkins' decades of sensory expertise to every roast. Gotham is a roaster with an unusually deep lineage, connecting today's specialty coffee directly to the origins of the craft in the United States.
