This single-origin coffee comes from the Kayanza region of Burundi, processed at the Gakenke Washing Station. Sourced from smallholder farmers cultivating the Bourbon variety, the beans are honey-processed—pulped and dried on raised beds with regular turning. The coffee offers complex, juicy cup characteristics with flavor notes of blood orange, cherry, and tropical fruits, featuring subtle nuances and elevated sweetness. Elevation ranges from 1,650 to 1,950 meters.
Square One Coffee has been roasting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania since 2000. Josh and Jess Steffy took ownership in 2007 and refocused the operation on specialty grade coffee, responsible sourcing, and barista education.
