Burundi Kibingo Kayanza Lavado

Burundi Kibingo Kayanza Lavado

Almanegra Café

About This Coffee

This washed coffee originates from the Kibingo washing station in the Kayanza province of northern Burundi, near the Rwandan border. The station sits at nearly 1,900 meters above sea level, with surrounding farms reaching up to 2,250 masl. Thousands of smallholder farmers from 18 surrounding hills deliver their cherries here, growing primarily ancient Bourbon varieties introduced to the region in the 1930s by Catholic monks from Réunion Island. The coffee features a complex flavor profile with tea, orange spice, allspice, clove, and butter notes, along with blueberry acidity and subtle citrus fruit undertones as it cools. Winner of first place at the Burundi Cup of Excellence.
