This coffee is grown in the cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica, thriving in cool temperatures beneath a natural canopy of shade trees. The diverse climate allows the coffee to ripen slowly, developing quality flavors. After selective handpicking, it is processed at a nearby wet mill and then sun-dried on patios and shaded raised beds. The coffee exhibits deep, rich, and smoky flavor characteristics. It has been purchased direct from farmers since 1989 at premium prices independent of market rates, supporting community social programs, environmental initiatives, and local projects in Monteverde.
