Rose Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This coffee is sourced from Tamiru Tadesse, a supplier working with approximately 200 farmers in the Delo Kebele area of Ethiopia's Sidama region. The cherries are processed at the Chilaka washing station in the Bensa zone. This particular lot undergoes 240 hours (10 days) of anaerobic fermentation in the cool high-altitude climate, followed by drying on raised beds with mesh wire. The extended anaerobic fermentation creates heavy and rich red fruit notes, producing an extremely expressive coffee. Suitable for both filter and espresso preparation, as well as milk-based drinks.

Rose Coffee Roasters

Rose Coffee Roasters was founded in 2022 in Zurich by Matt Winton, the 2021 World Brewers Cup Champion, together with Frederic Brunner. Matt's background spans aircraft engineering in Australia and years of competition at the highest level of specialty coffee. The team, which includes Sierra Yeo (2022 UK Brewers Cup Champion), roasts exclusively on Stronghold electric roasters powered by 100% renewable electricity. Every batch is roasted to order, with a deliberate focus on brightness, sweetness, and flavor. Rose sources top end specialty lots through direct relationships with farmers in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, China, and Indonesia. The name represents a duality Matt finds in great coffee: something simple and familiar on the surface, yet layered and complex underneath. It is a small, independent roastery with no shortcuts and no cheap blends.
