This coffee is from the Aponte Indigenous reserve in Colombia, where producers farm small rural lots. Aponte was an early adopter of the honey process, pioneering the technique in 2017. The region's low humidity and cool temperatures allow coffees to dry slowly, developing complex and delicate flavours. The honey process involves removing the cherry skin while retaining the sticky mucilage during drying, which adds sweetness and body. This coffee offers a mix of juicy fruits wrapped in a creamy, caramel-like body with hints of homemade fudge and a bright, tart acidity on the finish.
Hard Lines started as a small Aeropress pop up bar serving filter coffee in Cardiff and grew over several years into one of Wales's best known specialty roasters. The roastery operates out of Gwaelod y Garth, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, using two Loring eco friendly roasters: an S35 Kestrel and an S15 Falcon. They run three locations in the Cardiff area, including a café in Penylan inspired by Italian neighbourhood coffee bars. The offering rotates with seasonal fresh crop arrivals, and the brand's distinctive smiley face identity was developed with designer Cadilane.
