This coffee is sourced from 100% Colombian Arabica beans from the region of Argelia in southwestern Colombia. The coffee comes from farmers in an area historically affected by civil unrest who are working to support their families through legal coffee production. The beans produce a cup with distinctive fruit notes of apricot and grape, complemented by dark chocolate and nutmeg.
Ovenbird Coffee Roasters was incorporated in 2014 and operates from Glenwood Business Park in Glasgow, with roots in the Blackwood Estate near Lanark. Named after a migratory songbird that takes refuge in heavily shaded coffee farms, the roastery endorses traditional Italian coffee craft while working through a direct trade model. The team travels to origin to meet growers, many of whom are women led cooperatives, and agrees terms face to face. Their range includes a distinctive whisky barrel coffee series that infuses the character of fine Scotch into the beans. Single origins span Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Indonesia Sumatra, Rwanda, and limited edition lots like a Peruvian Gesha.
