Futura Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

Single-origin coffee from Colombia, grown by Javier Gasca on his two-hectare farm El Limón in the Timaná region of southern Huila at 1,450-1,600 meters altitude. The coffee is cultivated using Colombia, Cenicafe 1, and Castillo Tambo varieties. Javier employs a washed process with 24-hour dry fermentation followed by slow sun-drying in a marquesina for approximately 15 days. The farm practices regenerative agriculture and participates in the Biochar Program, which transforms coffee prunings into a carbon-rich soil amendment.

Futura Coffee Roasters

Futura Coffee Roasters launched in 2021 in Portland, Oregon, built around a single conviction: that regenerative agriculture produces better coffee and a healthier planet. The roastery works closely with farming partners, most notably La Palma y el Tucán in Colombia, who began implementing regenerative practices in 2017. Three percent of all sales go directly into a soil regeneration fund split between Colombian producers transitioning to regenerative methods and local Oregon farmers. Across multiple Portland locations, Futura serves coffees that reflect this commitment, with detailed transparency on sourcing and pricing for every offering. The result is a roastery where quality in the cup and long term ecological stewardship are treated as the same goal.
