Café Lauca

Laurent founded Cafe Lauca in 2021 in Aubagne in the Provence region, training with Ludovic Loizon of BBS to earn SCA certification before becoming the first roaster in France to install an IMF roasting machine, a technology that provides absolute consistency and reproducibility across every cycle. The roasting philosophy is shaped by Provence's espresso drinking culture: powerful coffees with a chocolate touch, no negative bitterness or acidity, and aromatic notes that work beautifully even for filter preparation. A tiny 12 square meter boutique and coffee shop called La Boutchica opened on Rue Grignan in central Marseille, earning a 4.9 star Google rating and a reputation for energy, personality, and genuinely warm service. The range of around ten coffees includes standouts like a Grand Cru Colombian scored at 88 SCA points from producer Nestor Lasso at 1750 meters, and a Women Coffee lot cultivated by Laura Enciso and transported by sail through the Fresh Coffee Clean Ocean project. Laurent personally roasts the entire selection and is known for pointing visitors toward other quality specialty cafes in Marseille, a generosity of spirit that matches the welcoming atmosphere. With an additional location in Cassis, a presence at the Paris Coffee Show, and plans to expand throughout Provence, Lauca is quickly becoming a reference point for specialty coffee in the south of France.
