A decaf espresso roast coffee sourced from small farms (1–10 ha) in the Santander region of Colombia, one of the country's oldest and most traditional coffee regions. Grown at elevations between 1,300 and 1,750 meters, the area features rich soils, diverse microclimates, and abundant water. Key municipalities include San Gil, Barichara, Socorro, and Vélez. Decaffeinated using natural ethyl acetate derived from sugarcane, removing over 97% of caffeine while preserving flavor. Flavor notes include sweet, lemon, and dark chocolate.
Espressofabriek was founded in 2005 by Rick Woertman at the Amsterdamse Westergasfabriek, establishing itself as one of the first specialty coffee spaces in the Netherlands and pioneering the Dutch specialty coffee movement. From 2011 onwards, the team began sourcing green coffee and roasting their own beans, developing their craft to match their commitment to quality. The roastery has since expanded to three spots across Amsterdam, including spaces in IJburg and on Zeeburgereiland, each reflecting their philosophy of excellence in every cup. With two decades of experience, Espressofabriek remains a foundational institution in Dutch specialty coffee culture.
