La Mulita Coffee

About This Coffee

This Yellow Caturra microlot is grown at 1,600 meters in Gaitania, Tolima, Colombia, on volcanic ash soil. Produced by second-generation grower Nelson Hurtado and his wife Reina, the coffee is farmed using organic practices at their El Edén farm. The cherries are picked at peak ripeness and undergo natural processing with 40 hours of fermentation in grain pro bags, followed by hand-sorting and drying on raised beds. The coffee offers a silky, coated mouthfeel with prune-like sweetness and a winey finish, showcasing a clean, fruit-forward profile.

La Mulita Coffee

Based in Rye, New Hampshire but rooted in Colombian heritage, La Mulita was founded by Medellin native Max Pruna who discovered specialty coffee through George Howell in 2015. The roastery exclusively focuses on Colombian single origins from small farms between 2 to 5 acres, paying farmers three times the standard rate for quality beans scoring 84 points and above. Named after the mules that transport coffee cherries down Colombian mountains, they travel annually to Colombia to maintain direct relationships with producers and roast in small batches to ensure exceptional freshness. Won WMUR Viewers Choice Best Coffee in NH 2021.
