This coffee is a microlot produced by several family farms in the municipality of Planadas, Tolima, Colombia. Some of these families belong to local indigenous communities and have been working with their local cooperatives to optimize farming and harvesting techniques and master natural processing. The coffee is made from Caturra variety and grown at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,150 meters. The natural processing method creates sweet and fruity notes in the cup.
Milly, a Colombian from a generation of coffee growers, founded Colombia Coffee Roasters in Oxford. The company sources 100 percent arabica from her family farm and neighboring high altitude farms in Colombia, maintaining direct relationships that guarantee both quality and fair conditions. Roasting happens in house on a Giesen roaster at their facility in Wheatley, just outside Oxford. The Covered Market location was voted Best Cafe in Oxford in 2022 by the Oxford Mail, and a second cafe in Summertown took second place in the same awards. The approach spans the full tree to cup chain: sourcing, roasting, and brewing, with multiple brew methods available in the cafes including syphon, V60, Chemex, and AeroPress.
