This coffee originates from the Sidama Bensa region of Ethiopia, sourced from the Alo Village Chilaka Station. Grown at 2400 MASL, it features the 74158 variety and is processed using an Anaerobic Honey method. Harvested in 2024, this light roast offers flavor notes of cherry, witch finger grape, and star fruit. The coffee is produced through Alo Coffee, whose work with Bensa smallholder growers gained recognition with a 1st place win at the 2021 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence.
Founded in 2011 by Birdie Chiu, whose decade of I.T. experience brought an eye for practicality and problem-solving to specialty coffee, Hazel & Hershey operates under a 'bean to cup' philosophy. Named after Chiu's two daughters, the roastery has evolved from equipment distribution into a comprehensive coffee company offering thoughtfully sourced beans, innovative products, and all-embracing services that elevate coffee beyond commodity status.
