This coffee is grown at altitudes exceeding 1900m in the Aricha village of Ethiopia, where approximately 800 smallholder farmers contribute to the lot. The coffee undergoes a washed process where cherries are pulped, washed and dried before export. Roasted to a medium/dark profile with extra caramelisation, the coffee is sweet, vibrant and soluble. Tasting notes include molasses, candied lemon, cocoa, citrus and caramel. It is described as ideal for espresso brewing or for those who enjoy a splash of milk.
Rob and Vikki Hodge founded Rave Coffee in Cirencester in 2011. The roastery moved into a renovated building on Phoenix Way in spring 2023, housing two Loring roasters, a 70kg and the original 35kg. They roast to order daily and have accumulated over 24,000 five star reviews. The Independent voted their subscription the Best Overall Coffee Subscription in 2024. Rave is a 1% for the Planet member and has planted over 22,000 trees through a partnership with One Tree Planted. Their range covers blends, single origins, pods, brew bags, cold brew, and green beans for home roasting.
