This coffee is from Ethiopia's Guji region in the Oromia area, grown at 1800 meters altitude. It is made from Heirloom variety beans using washed processing, which creates a clean and bright cup. The flavor profile features orange blossom aroma, lively citric acidity, and a clean, transparent finish. The body is light to medium with a smooth, flowing mouthfeel. This is a classic Ethiopian profile that showcases the elegant and floral characteristics the region is known for.
Boxx Coffee Roasters Co was founded in Istanbul in 2015 by Mert Soley, a former car racer, and Altug Baser, a scientist, before expanding to Los Angeles in 2021 with partner Arda Barlas. The Downtown Arts District roastery and café specialises in light roasted, origin focused coffees with an emphasis on floral, citrus, and fruity notes, sourcing single origin microlots from Bolivia, Congo, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Uganda. A signature offering is Turkish style cezve coffee brewed slowly in the traditional manner, honouring the founders' heritage. The espresso programme runs on a La Marzocco Strada with Mahlkonig Peak grinders, and the team pursues what they call the God Shot philosophy of perfect espresso alignment.
