About This Coffee

This coffee is a natural processed selection from the Guji region of Ethiopia, specifically from the Hambela woreda. Produced by Kebede Genale at his farm in the Buku village, this coffee is grown at high altitude, resulting in dense beans. The flavor profile features notes of perfumey jasmine, spices, kahlua, winey acidity, and candy sweetness. The cherries undergo a meticulous drying process on tables that can take over 16 days due to the cool climate, allowing for extended fermentation.

Case Study Coffee Roasters

Case Study Coffee Roasters was founded by Wes Russell and Christine Herman, opening their first café on NE Sandy Boulevard in 2010 in Portland, Oregon. The team roasts on a Loring S7 Nighthawk, an energy efficient single burner machine, producing light to medium profiles that showcase each coffee's origin. Sourcing is built on annual origin trips to develop direct farmer relationships, and the range includes single origin coffees, blends, and seasonal micro lots. Case Study operates two Portland locations on NE Sandy Boulevard and downtown on SW 10th Avenue, both serving full espresso bars. The roastery has won multiple awards including Best Coffee from Willamette Week.
