A specialty coffee from Ethiopia's classic and refined Sidamo region, known for clean and aromatic coffees. This coffee is made from traditional Heirloom varieties and processed using the washed method, which brings clarity, cleanliness, and elegance to the cup. The washed process emphasizes the coffee's natural acidity and floral character. Tasting notes include jasmine flower, grapefruit brightness, spicy touches, and a black tea-like finish. The body is medium with bright and balanced acidity. Particularly recommended for filter brewing methods, offering a layered but non-fatiguing experience.
Boxx Coffee Roasters Co was founded in Istanbul in 2015 by Mert Soley, a former car racer, and Altug Baser, a scientist, before expanding to Los Angeles in 2021 with partner Arda Barlas. The Downtown Arts District roastery and café specialises in light roasted, origin focused coffees with an emphasis on floral, citrus, and fruity notes, sourcing single origin microlots from Bolivia, Congo, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Uganda. A signature offering is Turkish style cezve coffee brewed slowly in the traditional manner, honouring the founders' heritage. The espresso programme runs on a La Marzocco Strada with Mahlkonig Peak grinders, and the team pursues what they call the God Shot philosophy of perfect espresso alignment.
