Karma Coffee was founded in 1997 on Lasqueti Island, British Columbia, making it one of the first organic and ethically sourced coffee roasters in the province. The founders began by perfecting their roasting formula in a home kitchen before relocating to Vancouver Island to supply cafes, restaurants, and boutique stores. Now based in Duncan, BC, the roastery requires every bean to meet at least one certification: Fair Trade, Smithsonian Bird Friendly, Rainforest Alliance, or UTZ. The commitment to organic and ethical sourcing has remained unchanged since the company's island beginnings nearly three decades ago.
