MaxHase Kaffee

About This Coffee

This Typica coffee from Colombia is grown on Finca San Luis by Patricia and Omar Arango in Líbano, Tolima at 1,700-1,900 meters altitude. The variety is designated as Typica FSL (Finca San Luis), representing a diverse mix of Typica, Gesha, Maragogype, Bourbon, Caturra and wild crosses grown together on the farm. The processing involves 24 hours of anaerobic fermentation, followed by four days of drying on African beds, then an additional five days of anaerobic fermentation in airtight bags. The farm follows strict ecological standards with biodiversity-focused, fungicide- and pesticide-free cultivation, using companion planting, natural shade from reforestation, and their own composting and water treatment. The coffee features tropical-fruity and sweet characteristics with flavor notes of nectarine, passion fruit, pomelo, and caramel. It offers a full-bodied profile with delicate floral notes as filter coffee and stronger caramel sweetness as espresso.

MaxHase Kaffee

MaxHase Kaffee was founded in 2019 in the Bavarian town of Mühldorf am Inn, operating from Auf der Wies 7a where a drum roaster visible through the cafe gives customers a front row seat to the roasting process. The name, combining "Max" with "Hase" (German for hare), lends a distinctive local character to a roastery focused on direct trade sourcing and ethical relationships with producers. Small batch specialty roasting in light to medium profiles is the standard, with sustainability and quality guiding every sourcing decision. The cafe opens Wednesday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, and the team is known for personalized consultations that help customers navigate flavors and find the right coffee for their individual taste preferences. Their signature roast, Lieblingshase (meaning "Favorite Hare"), anchors a lineup built on approachability and care.
