This blend combines coffee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Kivu Province, and Chiapas, Mexico. Roasted to a dark level, it delivers a rich body without bitterness. The coffee features dark chocolate richness balanced with maple syrup-like sweetness. The blend works well as espresso and also produces a rich drip coffee for bold coffee drinkers. Altitude ranges from 1,480 to 2,000 meters above sea level.
Stephanie Welter Krause founded Swelter Coffee Roasters in 2020, originally based in El Cerrito, California, before relocating operations to Tailwind Roasting, a co roastery facility in Chicago. Swelter sources coffee that is women produced or women led throughout the supply chain, working with suppliers including Artisan Coffee Imports, Mighty Peace Coffee, Bean Voyage, and a family farm called Santa Marta in Guatemala. All coffee is roasted to order in small batches to minimize waste. The business is woman owned and operates under the principle of coffee by women, for everyone.
