Crimson Cup Coffee

Greg Ubert founded Crimson Cup Coffee in 1991 after graduating from Harvard and moving to Columbus, Ohio. The roastery operates three machines at its Alum Creek Drive facility — a 325 pound Roure nicknamed Godzilla, a 66 pound Roure called Little Red, and a pair of 25 pound Probats known as Hansel and Gretel. The Friend2Farmer direct trade program goes beyond fair trade certification, building long term partnerships and paying above market prices while extending quality labs to Uganda and Honduras. Crimson Cup won the overall championship at the 2025 Golden Bean World Series, the world's largest roasting competition, and was named Roast Magazine's 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year. The company also runs a 7 Steps to Success consulting program that has helped over 300 entrepreneurs open independent coffee shops across 30 states.
