Girl Crush is a house espresso blend from Girls Who Grind Coffee, sourced from female producers. It is a medium roast coffee that delivers a sweet and silky smooth cup with subtle acidity. This versatile coffee is designed as an all-rounder, performing excellently in both black and milk-based drinks. The recommended espresso recipe is 18g in/36g out, extracting in 28-30 seconds. The coffee is described as forgiving and easy to work with, making it suitable for various brewing methods.
Girls Who Grind Coffee was founded in 2017 by Fi O'Brien and Casey LaLonde in Wiltshire. Fi, originally from Australia, handles brand and design; Casey, from upstate New York, is head roaster and a qualified Q Grader who has been working in coffee since 2006. The roastery sources exclusively from women coffee producers. Through their Cheek to Cheek initiative, 10% of all retail coffee sales goes directly to the women farmers and producers they work with, on top of fair pricing for the green coffee itself. Casey roasts on a Giesen, developing profiles on an IKAWA sample roaster. Each retail bag features an illustrated portrait representing the spirit of the producer, designed by Fi and her husband.
