This blend combines coffee from two Brazilian coffee farming families in southern Minas Gerais, Brazil, and a small specialty coffee farm in Colombia. The blend features a smooth body with a medium-dark roast profile. It is processed using both natural and washed methods. The coffee offers citrus, chocolate, and nutty flavor notes with a medium body. Inspired by Maria Lucia, this is MALU's house blend.
Uncommon Coffee started as a cafe in Saugatuck, Michigan in 1994, founded by Guy Darienzo and Stephen Keye. In 2021, after 27 years under the original owners, the business was acquired by Bruno Nobre and Mauricio DaSilva, both from multi generational coffee farming families in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. They had previously supplied beans to Uncommon as partner farmers, making the transition from grower to roaster a natural one. The roastery now serves over 200 businesses across the Midwest. Uncommon is farmer owned and minority owned, and operates with a goal of being landfill free, using BPI certified compostable cups and sleeves throughout.
