Guatemala Chulajense is a washed single-origin coffee from Quiche, Guatemala, cultivated at 1,600-2,000 meters altitude. This coffee features a blend of Caturra, Catuai, and Bourbon varieties, roasted to a darker medium level. The coffee displays tasting notes of roasted pecan, toffee, and a full body.
Achilles Coffee Roasters was founded in 2015 by Chad Bell in San Diego, California, named after his son. What started as a modest outdoor coffee cart in the Gaslamp Quarter grew within a year into a leased space in Cortez Hill, and the business now operates five café locations across San Diego County. All coffee is roasted in small batches locally, using beans that carry Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications alongside direct trade relationships where possible. The roastery maintains 12 rotating single origin selections sourced from around the globe, with an emphasis on precision brewing methods including weighed espresso shots.
