About This Coffee

This espresso blend combines washed Arabica and washed Robusta from India, sourced from Hoysala Farm. The coffee is fermented washed processed. The plantations date back to the late 1800s and are run by third-generation plantation owners. Coffee plants are grown on slopes with two-tiered shade from native rainforest trees and Erythrina lithosperma, creating habitat for over 200 species. The soil is rich in humus, organic matter, and natural minerals. This blend features a strong, full body with notes of hazelnut and dark chocolate, designed specifically for portafilter machines and fully automatic machines.

Franz Morish Kaffeerösterei opened in 2015 in Leipzig, near the Grassi Museum, establishing itself as one of the city's few roasters with a fully visible in house roasting operation. Their approach to espresso involves slightly higher final temperatures and longer roast times to reduce acidity and build body, while filter coffees are roasted faster to preserve bright, fruity flavors. This dual methodology reflects a thoughtful understanding of how different brewing methods demand different things from the bean. They source specialty grade green coffee from origins including Colombia's Huila region, Brazil, India, and Congo, offering both single origins and omni roasts.
