About This Coffee

This Honduras Hermanas Alvarado is a special collaborative microlot from three sisters—Iris, Lourdes, and Ana Isabel Alvarado—who each inherited coffee trees from their grandfather, an early member of the Capucas cooperative. The sisters all placed in the top 10 of the coop's microlot competition and combined their lots for this unique offering. Iris serves as the lead cupper and QC manager for Capucas. The coffee features tasting notes of passion fruit, honey, and walnut.

Bird and Bear Coffee

Bird and Bear Coffee was founded in 2020 by Dan Streetman and his wife Ella in San Francisco's Cole Valley, named after the nicknames of their twin daughters. Dan brings nearly 20 years of specialty coffee experience from stints at Cuvee Coffee in Austin, Irving Farm in New York, and Sightglass, and holds credentials through both the SCA and CQI. The roastery produces around 300 pounds per week at Pulley Collective in Oakland, a private label co op facility, with each coffee roasted fresh when ordered using parameters tailored to unlock its specific flavour potential. Dan has developed direct relationships with growers through origin trips, prioritising environmental wellbeing, equitable working conditions, and sustainable farming practices.
