Indian Monsoon Malabar

Indian Monsoon Malabar

Grain & Grind

About This Coffee

Light, fruit-like acidity with a wonderfully mellow flavour, complemented by aromas of chocolate, spice, and nuts. Grown on India's Malabar Coast in Karnataka and Kerala, the humid coastal climate and traditional monsooning process give this coffee its signature smooth, rich sweetness, which deepens with higher roast levels. Fully ripened cherries are naturally sun-dried and hulled, then transported to Mangalore during the monsoon months (June to August), where they slowly absorb moisture, swell and turn white before being placed in warehouses to reduce moisture to 11 percent for export.

Grain & Grind

Grain & Grind opened its first coffee shop at the start of 2018 beneath the old Victoria Infirmary buildings on Battlefield Road in Glasgow. A roaster was installed in that original shop and later relocated to Inverness, where master roaster John now hand roasts in small batches across a range of over twenty offerings. The company has grown to eight café locations spread between Glasgow and Inverness. They also run a wholesale supply business providing beans, brew bags, and equipment to cafés, restaurants, and hotels, partnering with San Remo for espresso machines and Mahlkönig for grinders.
