This blend combines coffees from Colombia and Brazil, both produced by woman-owned farms. The Colombian component is grown at 1300-1500 meters and washed processed, while the Brazilian component is grown at 750-1100 meters and processed using natural and pulped methods. The coffee features flavor notes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and plum, with chocolate flavors being prominent. Formerly called El Sur Blend.
Zach and Denise Gamza opened Empower Coffee Roasters in April 2020 in Mesa, Arizona, building a 700 square foot facility that houses the roastery, a small kitchen, and front of house seating. Roasting runs on a 5 pound machine made by Arizona based Buckeye Coffee Roasters, with green coffee sourced through Cafe Femenino and Cafe Imports. Five percent of all sales go to nonprofits supporting women and girls through education and career development, including a partnership with the Live and Learn organization in Arizona. The woman owned operation sources specifically from women run coffee farms around the world.
