Kangocho AA is a washed coffee from Karatina, Nyeri, Kenya, produced by Gikanda Cooperative Society at 1,700 meters elevation. The coffee features three varieties: SL28, SL34, and Batian. SL28 and SL34 are Kenyan-specific varieties developed from Bourbon, while Batian is a more recent development prized for disease resistance. The coffee exhibits classic Kenyan characteristics: black currant, honey, and lemon notes with a creamy, bright, sweet profile and full-bodied mouthfeel.
Panther Coffee was founded in 2010 by Leticia and Joel Pollock, a husband and wife team bringing over 40 years of combined coffee industry experience to the Miami roastery. They began with a vintage 1927 Perfekt roaster, a piece of equipment acquired from Lighthouse Roasters in Seattle that carries the weight of coffee history into modern roasting practice. Direct trade sourcing focuses exclusively on organic beans from small farms in Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, and Ethiopia, building relationships that honor farmer knowledge and fair compensation. Recognition through Good Food Awards and ranking among the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops affirms the roastery's commitment to quality and ethics.
