This coffee is from the Baragwi Farmers Co-operative Society Limited in Kenya, situated at 1,700–1,800 meters altitude. The coffee is processed at the Kariru factory, which opened in 1986 and uses fresh river water with a water recycling system. After washing in river water, the coffee is sun-dried on raised beds. Approximately 1,500 smallholder farmers contributed to this microlot. The coffee features flavor notes of calamansi, blackberry, and honey with a bright, sweet character. This is a light roast single origin coffee.
Alvarium Roasting launched in January 2022 as a sister venture of Alvarium Beer Company in New Britain, Connecticut. The business is owned by Kate Bugnacki, Michael Larson, and Brian Bugnacki, with Jacob Failla directing roasting operations. All coffee is roasted to order weekly and sourced ethically from multiple countries, with the blends carrying bee and nature themed names that reflect the parent brand's identity. The roastery operates a retail café at its New Britain headquarters alongside a second location at the GastroPark in West Hartford, and the partnership with the brewery creates opportunities for beer and coffee collaborations.
