This coffee originates from Kenya, specifically Nyeri County, from the Karuthi factory built in the 1980s between the Rwarai and Chinga rivers in Othaya. The coffee is produced by approximately 400 farmer members of the cooperative. The beans are grown at 1850 meters altitude and consist of SL28 and SL34 varieties. The coffee is washed processed, with beans pulped and fermented for 12-48 hours depending on weather, then washed to remove mucilage and dried on raised African beds for 2-3 weeks. The beans are rested in parchment for 3 weeks before hulling, cleaning and grading. The flavor profile includes grapefruit, apricot, hints of lemon, and a soft mouthfeel. It has a cupping score of 87.
