About This Coffee

This coffee is a single origin from Kenya, specifically from the Nyeri region. It is produced by the Gachatha Farmers' Cooperative Society, which has about 900 active members with small farms. The coffee is washed processed, with cherries depulped the same day, fermented in open-air tanks for 1-2 days, then washed and soaked before drying on raised mesh beds. This microlot is composed of four varieties: Batian, SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11. The flavor profile features black currant, cocoa butter, and clean fruity notes.

Cogito Coffee Roasters

Founded in 2014 by Matija Belković and Hannah Powlison Belković, Cogito emerged from their pioneering cafe "Cafe u Dvoristu" when Zagreb had only two establishments serving quality coffee. The addition of Matija Hrkac—three-time Croatian Barista Champion and 2012 World Barista Championship finalist—transformed this courtyard venture into Croatia's leading specialty roastery. Their approach respects Croatia's deeply social coffee culture, where leisurely consumption remains paramount, while introducing international quality standards to a market long dominated by commercial roasting.
