This AA fully washed top lot comes from Kamwangi washing station, one of three processing stations managed by New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) in Kirinyaga County, located in Kenya's central highlands. The co-op works with approximately 1,500 local farmers who grow the varieties Ruiru 11, SL-28, and Batian at altitudes up to 1,800 meters. The coffee cherries are hand-sorted for unripe and overripe by farmers before processing. The pulp is removed and the coffee ferments for 24-36 hours under close shade depending on climate temperatures. After fermentation, the coffee is washed and graded again by density in washing channels, then sun-dried on African drying beds for 12 to 20 days. Coffee is covered with plastic during midday and at night to protect the beans from night moisture and rain. The flavor profile is juicy and classic with notes of blackcurrant, vanilla, and citrus.
