Seth Taylor Coffee

About This Coffee

This decaffeinated coffee is a blend from two cooperatives in Kenya's Nyeri region. The Kenya Nyeri Mutheka Kigwandi AB comes from the Kigwandi Factory, representing 842 smallholder farmers who tend approximately 200 coffee trees each. The Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society's Rukira Factory, founded in 1979, contributes coffee from 600 active farmers who contribute approximately 30kg per harvest. The coffee is grown at 1600-1900 meters altitude in the volcanic soils near Mount Kenya. Varieties include SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru-11, and Batian, processed using the washed method. The coffee features flavor notes of blackberry, black currant, and honey, described as bright and juicy.

Seth Taylor Coffee

Seth Taylor put his own name on this Montreal micro roastery, establishing a personal, hands on approach that extends from direct relationships with producers to origin travel and intimate cuppings. Starting as a pop up before settling in Mile End, the operation remains deliberately small, with limited production runs that prioritize quality over volume. Roasting is done in small batches with light to medium profiles showcasing origins from Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Kenya, and El Salvador. The roastery primarily operates as a production facility rather than a bustling cafe, supplying select Montreal specialty cafes through a focused wholesale program. A subscription service with personalized selections reflects Seth's belief that coffee is best when it carries the personal touch of someone who genuinely cares about every step.
