Kintamani Natural Filter Roast

About This Coffee

This coffee is from Bali Kintamani, a naturally processed Arabica coffee produced in collaboration with local farmers. The ripe cherries are left to dry in the sun after harvesting, resulting in a juicy, sweet, and fruit-driven coffee. The flavor profile features sweet rockmelon, peanut, and jackfruit, with hints of dates and biscuits on the aftertaste. This is a filter roast intended for filter brewing methods.

Expat. Roasters

Expat. Roasters was founded in 2016 by Shae Macnamara, an Australian barista who won the 2016 Australian Coffee in Good Spirits Championship and placed fourth at the World Championship in Shanghai that same year. What began with a one kilogram roaster in Bali in 2017 has grown into a multi island operation with a dedicated production roastery in Sidoarjo, East Java, and several spaces across Bali, Surabaya, and Sydney. The roastery sources the vast majority of its coffee from local Indonesian producers across Bali, Sumatra, and Sulawesi, maintaining direct partnerships with over 50 farming families within close proximity to their operations. Senior roaster Sermy Samma won first place at the Indonesia Roasting Championship in 2019, reinforcing the team's competitive pedigree. Expat. has also pioneered sustainability initiatives in Indonesia's specialty scene, switching to reusable aluminum tins for its supply partners and upcycling spent coffee grounds into organic fertilizer and soap through local collaborations.
