About This Coffee

This coffee comes from La Divisa, a 13-hectare family farm located at 1,700 meters altitude in Circasia, Quindío, Colombia. The farm is operated by Sebastián Gómez and his father John, who have been cultivating coffee under native shade trees since 1995. Since 2014, the farm has focused on specialty coffee production, cultivating varieties including Geisha and Pink Bourbon in collaboration with Cofinet. Francois Justet and Carmen Callizo had lived in France, England, and Poland before Antoine Netien of Coutume in Paris told them Barcelona would be the perfect city for a specialty coffee business. They opened SlowMov in the Gracia neighborhood in May 2015, making it one of Barcelona's first specialty roasteries alongside Nomad. The space occupies a traditional house that once belonged to a cabinetmaker and hat maker, with nearly four meter high ceilings, Catalan vaulted construction, hydraulic mosaic floors, and wooden beams. A counter separates the seating area from the production space, so customers watch the roasting happen in real time. SlowMov visits producers in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Mexico, maintaining long term sourcing relationships and working only with coffees grown without chemicals, even when not formally certified organic. Local deliveries go out by cargo bike, and all packaging has been fully biodegradable since 2018.
