La Fortuna

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee comes from La Fortuna, a 4-hectare farm in Los Cedros, Pomahuaca District, Jaén province, Cajamarca region, northern Peru. The farm is owned and managed by Mariano Alcarazo Paredes. The coffee is grown at 1700-1900 meters altitude and features the Marshel varietal, a newer Peruvian variety prized for its high quality. The cherries undergo extended fermentation washed processing: selectively harvested ripe cherries rest for 24-40 hours before pulping, then dry ferment in bags for approximately 24 hours, are washed twice, and slowly dried on raised beds for around 30 days. The cup profile includes red apple, plum, and toffee notes.

Horsham Coffee Roaster

Bradley and Amelia started Horsham Coffee Roaster in 2012, roasting on a 1kg machine in their garage. The operation has since grown into a purpose built roastery in Burgess Hill, Sussex, where they roast daily on a Loring S35 low emissions roaster. They became the first UK roaster to sign The Pledge at transparency.coffee and maintain direct trade relationships in Rwanda, Kenya, Costa Rica, and Brazil. Most of their coffees score 85 or above on the SCA scale. They also co own Bond Street Coffee in Brighton, listed by The Telegraph among Britain's top 30 coffee shops. BBC Good Food named their subscription the UK's Best Ethical Coffee Subscription.
