This coffee is produced by Luz Helena Salazar from La Leona farm in Quindio, Colombia, at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,600 metres above sea level. The Caturra varietal is fully washed, resulting in a juicy easy drinker with tasting notes of oranges and icing sugar. The coffee is recommended as filter.
Kenny and Justin founded Coborn Coffee after a conversation in an East London pub on Coborn Road, incorporating the company in 2022. The roastery operates from Tyssen Street in Hackney as a micro roasting operation with a pointed sourcing principle: every coffee comes from a named female producer or a majority women owned farm. The decision reflects the reality that women make up the bulk of the coffee production labor force globally yet own a disproportionately small share of farms. Justin, self titled Head of Mischief, brings an intentionally joyful energy to the project. The goal is to pay farmers fairly while keeping specialty coffee accessible to the local community rather than pricing it as a luxury product.
