This coffee is grown in the mystical, mist-capped mountains of Toraja Utara, South Sulawesi, Indonesia at altitudes of 1,400–2,000 MASL. Produced by smallholder farmers organized through the Cooperative of Toraja Coffee Growers, it uses the traditional Indonesian Giling Basah (wet hulling) processing method. The coffee features tasting notes of molasses, herbal, spiced, and baker's chocolate with medium-full body and low, balanced acidity. The varieties include Catimor, S795, and Typica.
Blind Dog Coffee was founded in 2007 by Mark Berry in Gardnerville, Nevada. Mark developed cancer as a young child that ultimately threatened his eyesight, and by age 49 he became legally blind, ending a 30 year career and prompting him to learn professional coffee roasting. The roastery uses 100% USDA Certified Organic beans with a GMO free, no additives guarantee, and sources ethically in support of fair labour practices. A portion of all proceeds goes to the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation, reflecting Mark's personal connection to childhood cancer. The business operates a roastery headquarters in Gardnerville alongside a coffee shop and café in nearby Minden.
