This single origin coffee from Malawi is grown at Sable Farm in Southern Malawi at 1200m above sea level. Sable Farming Company Ltd is the only existing incorporated coffee producer in Malawi, growing coffee alongside dairy and nuts for over 30 years. The farm spans 560 hectares and is RFA (Rainforest Alliance) certified. The coffee features Batian, Catimor 129, Caturra, and SL-28 varieties. Ripe cherries are dried on a patio in the sun for 15-20 days and continuously raked for consistent drying. The washed process yields tasting notes of toffee apple, milk chocolate, and macadamia nuts.
Luckie Beans is a family run roastery in Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders, operated by Jamie and Esther McLuckie for over ten years. They roast from an 18th century building in the centre of town, using a roaster fitted with a manual valve on the burners for full control over each batch. The coffees have earned thirteen Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food. Their range includes single origins from across East Africa and Latin America, two house blends named after local streets, and both Swiss Water and sugarcane process decafs. The roastery opens to the public every Wednesday.
