This coffee is sourced from smallholder families in the Sierra Mazateca region of Oaxaca, Mexico, specifically from municipalities including Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón, San Mateo Yoloxochitlán, and Huautla de Jiménez. The coffee is a community microlot compiled from lots produced by women, selected for their quality and profile. It features a bright and fruity character with tasting notes of orange and berries, complemented by sweetness reminiscent of praline and a finish of vanilla fudge and rum.
Julie and TJ Fairchild's 2003 leap of faith has evolved into Pittsburgh's most thoughtfully community-centered roasting operation, now spanning seven locations with 65+ employees roasting 2,500 pounds weekly. Their philosophy, inspired by a Walt Whitman poem, centers on creating "solid ground for all" through coffee that serves as genuine neighborhood infrastructure.
