Dean's Beans

Dean Cycon founded Dean's Beans in 1993 in Orange, Massachusetts, building a roastery around the idea that coffee should support the communities that grow it. The company has been 100 percent certified organic since day one and a member of the Fair Trade Federation throughout its history. In 2023, Cycon retired and sold the business to its employees, making Dean's Beans a fully worker owned cooperative. The roastery installed solar panels in 2006, one of the first companies in the state to do so, and a second installation in 2019 now offsets up to 79 percent of fossil fuel electricity. Dean's Beans holds B Corporation certification with a Best for the World Community designation and was a Roast Magazine Macro Roaster of the Year finalist in 2020, 2022, and 2023.
