Mimba

About This Coffee

Mimba Estate is a 120-hectare coffee farm in Tanzania, established in 1995 by Joseph Meila. The farm is situated at altitudes between 1400 and 1700 meters above sea level. This coffee is a 100% N39 variety, which is a Bourbon strain developed by the Tanzania Coffee Research Institute. The lot undergoes a fully washed process including cherry floatation to select the highest quality cherries, followed by fermentation and sun drying on raised beds. The farm also cultivates Bourbon and Kent varieties, with a focus on organic compost-based fertilizer and selective hand-picking of ripe cherry.

Quarter Horse Coffee

Quarter Horse Coffee opened its first café in Oxford in 2012 before moving permanently to Birmingham in 2015, becoming the city's first specialty coffee roasters. The roastery sits in the Jewellery Quarter on Kenyon Street, where the entire roasting process is visible from the café floor. In 2023 they opened a dedicated site for production and training. Coffees are organised into three categories: Stable for balanced profiles, Venture for floral and citrus forward lots, and Unique for experimental processes. All retail bags are fully home compostable and biodegradable.
