This coffee is a Caturra variety from the El Porvenir farm, located in the Palestina area of the Huila region in Colombia. Grown at an altitude between 1550 and 1700 meters, this coffee is processed using the washed method. It offers a flavor profile characterized by notes of lemongrass and green tea.
Kenny and Justin founded Coborn Coffee after a conversation in an East London pub on Coborn Road, incorporating the company in 2022. The roastery operates from Tyssen Street in Hackney as a micro roasting operation with a pointed sourcing principle: every coffee comes from a named female producer or a majority women owned farm. The decision reflects the reality that women make up the bulk of the coffee production labor force globally yet own a disproportionately small share of farms. Justin, self titled Head of Mischief, brings an intentionally joyful energy to the project. The goal is to pay farmers fairly while keeping specialty coffee accessible to the local community rather than pricing it as a luxury product.
