This Myanmar coffee is sourced from the Southern Shan region and produced by Shwe Tuang Thu, a cooperative of 17 villages supporting education and economic growth for coffee growers. The coffee is naturally processed, showcasing mastery in natural processing techniques. It is the 2024 crop from the same producer featured in a top-20 Brewer's Cup Nationals routine.
Marissa Childers founded Tanbrown Coffee in Atlanta in 2022, bringing a focus on Asian coffee origins that remains rare in specialty roasting. Childers learned to roast through the Glitter Cat program, which brings people from marginalized backgrounds into the coffee industry, and has since gone on to judge national competitions. Tanbrown sources exclusively from Asian growing regions or through direct connections, treating the work as a love letter to an underrepresented part of the coffee world. Childers spent over a year developing her palate and understanding acidity, body, and balance before launching, and that deliberateness carries through every roast.
