About This Coffee

This coffee is a single-origin from Ngila Estate, located on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater in the Arusha region of northern Tanzania. Cultivated between 1,500 and 1,600 meters above sea level, the coffee is of the Kent variety and processed using the washed method. It scored 86 points and features a complex flavor profile with notes of blackberry, stone fruits, black tea, sugarcane, and caramel. The estate was founded in 1920 and transformed in 1992 by the Meyer family into a specialty coffee model farm, now directed by Vera Stücker. This lot was harvested between July and August 2024, with hand-selected cherries depulped, fermented for 15 hours, and sun-dried for 14 days on raised beds. The farm is Rainforest Alliance certified and uses low-water depulping, solar drying, and biochar for soil enrichment.

What started in October 2015 as a small specialty space with the goal of popularizing good coffee has expanded into a multi city operation with outposts in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, and Valencia.
