Nerja Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This organic decaffeinated coffee is from Puebla, Mexico, specifically from the Sierra Norte mountains in the regions of Hueytamalco, Cuetzalan, and Teziutlán. Grown at altitudes of 900-1000 meters, it features Bourbon, Mundo Novo, and Caturra varieties. The coffee is washed processed and decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Method. It offers a medium roast with tasting notes of nutmeg and toffee, delivering a smooth body, delicate aroma, and light acidity. The beans are sustainably cultivated by local families in an area with a coffee-growing tradition dating back to 1870.

Nerja Coffee Roasters

Kerry Patten, originally from Ireland, and her husband Wesley moved to southern Spain in May 2022 and founded Nerja Coffee Roasters in the coastal town of Nerja on the Costa del Sol. Kerry brings a long international career in coffee; Wesley's background is in economics and financial mathematics. The roastery is certified organic and works exclusively with Fairtrade and specialty grade beans from Africa and South America, roasting in small batches with no added chemicals or preservatives. They sell online, through a subscription service, and at farmers' markets along the Costa del Sol and in Granada. Their sourcing includes Colombian beans from smallholder cooperatives in the Nariño region and Costa Rican coffee from CoopeTarrazú's women's project.
